"It's Grandma's 'Cozy Bag' !!" January 28, 2016 12:15My daughter called me the other day. Kate (my 4 year-old granddaughter) was just over flu and Emily was laying on the couch with what appeared to be another bout of strep. Kate was trying to help her sister feel better. Not being able to say "Wheatberry Bag".. she ran over to Emily with comfort and warmth in her hands, saying "It's Grandma's Cozy Bag" !! Ash & I loved it! Other friends and family agreed! "Cozy" is one of our favourite words.. and quickly describes just what these bags are for.. warm, cozy healing. Hence the formal product name change today. Thanks Kate! I love the new name! And, I love you too!
Keep It Simple! January 4, 2016 11:36
As a new year begins, my personal credo is to "keep it simple". All things are done well, when we are comfortable, not overwhelmed, in a natural rhythm and flow, and generally that means "less is best". Through my practice as an aromatherapist, I have moved to a more natural lifestyle, reduced stress, adopted a natural flow of "ease and grace" and seek organic solutions. Balance is the key.. in diet, exercise, work, health and play.
Happy New Year 2016 !!
Keep it Simple! Enjoy Life!
Let things fall into a natural order.. seek organic solutions.. and stress less.

Home & Garden April 20, 2015 12:57Tis the season for all things creepy-crawly to invade our space. Winged insects, especially the stinging variety, are particularly annoying. Many essential oils act as a deterrant for such pesky critters. Peppermint, in particular, is effective to keep insects, like ants, at bay. Drop a few drops along your window sill or screen door base to discourage their entry. The house will smell fresh and clean, the mint fragrance will liven up any mood, and beat the heat or summer fatigue. Try a few drops on a porch fan.. this should give fresh, cooling effect to your outdoor space. Lovely!
Infusing Calendula March 5, 2015 17:17Fresh infusion of calendula petals in sunflower oil today. It is a Full Moon today and this infusion will sit on my window sill for one month, or one moon cycle. I love to do things with purpose, intent, positivity and joy. Today feels like the perfect day for this creative activity.
Cold & Muscle Products January 3, 2015 08:33Cold & Muscle Rub was created as a Vap-o-Rub alternative with natural ingredients and calendula salve base, not a petroleum-type base. Essential oils of camphor, peppermint, eucalyptus, cinnamon, cedar & ginger combine to make a nice-smelling, effective decongestant and analgesic balm. Rub on chest, back, sinuses, and bottom of feet, for penetrating warmth and comfort... to prevent, or rid your body of cold and flu. This is the strongest, most therapeutic product Mari makes.. in small batches and fresh every time! Cold & Muscle Mist and Concentrate are also available for aerial application, or diffusion in steam or tea-light diffuser. From children to the elderly, this product is popular, safe, soothing.. and it works! Please enjoy, and stay healthy.. naturally!
Diffusing Essential Oils December 9, 2014 07:35Diffuse essential oils in steaming water on your stove, or over a tea-light candle, to purify indoor winter air. Essential oils are antiseptic & most are antibacterial as well, so adding some to the air you breathe is a great idea! Essential oils offer natural aromas too.. nothing synthetic or perfumy. Personally I like adding a few drops of Cold & Muscle Rub Concentrate to boiling water each morning. The camphor, menthol & ginger sure smells great & keeps us all healthy!

MOVE! Changes Name to SUMMER PRODUCTS July 18, 2014 14:53
In June 2014 Health Canada requested a name change to popular product called Mari's Gold MOVE! (as it sounds too much like "OFF!" they said).. to something "less suggestive".. and so Mari's Gold SUMMER Body Oil, Mist and Concentrate was born.
No reference to pest control is allowed on products, without being registered as a pesticide by Health Canada. Once the name was changed, labels were revised to indicate alternate uses to Mari's Gold SUMMER PRODUCTS.
These are the same great products that has been available since 2000. They are all natural, re-vitalizing during summer heat, with essential oils of peppermint, lavender, citronella & lemongrass. Massage the oil into skin to moisturize while sun-tanning. Oil and mist are soothing for headaches, sunburn, skin irritations and after-bite. Refill mist with economical concentrate or freshen air on porch or picnic table by diffusing concentrate in steaming water... over tealight candle.. or in fondue pot.
Foot Care April 2, 2014 06:01
Spring is a busy time! Everyone is out there.. running, biking, walking.. and our feet can take a real beating. Some occupations require standing for long periods of time.. and some sports, like running and dancing, place a lot of strain on the feet. Blisters can become infected, but 1 drop of lavender oil on an open blister, will stop it from becoming infected.
Massage the feet to keep them supple and free from injury. Mari's Gold Foot Balm has been formulated with soothing calendula and hypericum oils, shea butter, vit E.. and antiseptic and refreshing essential oils of peppermint, spearmint and wintergreen.
A soothing soak in warm water with bath salts, epsom salts, baking soda with a few drops of essential oils, or few drops of Mari's Gold Foot Oil, will leave feet feeling clean, soft, and pampered. Well-cared for feet will support our physical activity and help withstand the pressure placed on the 26 bones in each foot.
For deep heel cracks, apply Mari's Gold Nature's Nursemaids following a foot soak, massage Mari's Gold Foot Balm or Foot Oil into feet, then cover with bandaid and clean socks. The calendula-infused glycerin has proven to repair.. soothe & comfort deep cracks in skin.
Just be sure to take care of your feet and they will take care of you!
Sore Throat Remedies February 22, 2014 06:44A sore throat is an aggravating thing. It can indicate the onset of cold or flu. It can indicate a blocked throat chakra.. or precede something serious like laryngitis or strep throat. Steam inhalation of essential oils in boiling water (make a tent with a towel over your head) will bring relief to sore throat, sinus & chest congestion. Tea tree & lemon are effective, antiseptic and antibiotic essential oils.. available in 10 ml bottle. Mari's Gold Sore Throat Gargle has been designed for this purpose. Add a few drops to water and gargle for instant relief. Repeat several times a day, especially before bed. Natural remedies are the best way to doctor yourself or family at home.. thereby avoiding prescribed medication, if possible.

Calendula (Pot Marigold) Oil September 15, 2013 04:20
Calendula Oil is the inspiration.. and foundation for most Mari's Gold products. It is an infused oil, very valuable for its powerful skin-healing properties. Dried calendula marigold petals are sun-infused in sunflower oil for a month, then strained, to produce a rich golden-coloured carrier oil. This resulting oil can then be used unfragranced, for massage or bath.. or with essential oils added.
Calendula oil is antiseptic & anti-inflammatory. It is beneficial for cuts, burns, rashes & scars. It is useful for dry, inflamed & irritated skin, including psoriasis and eczema. It is calming & soothing - gentle enough for sensitive skin and is popular in baby products. It is a valuable ingredient in soaps, salves, lotions & ointments, and superior carrier oil for aromatherapy massage & bath oils. Active ingredients are flavonoids, carotene, vitamins A & E.

Essential Oils Boost Immune System April 30, 2013 08:36
The more you work with essential oils, the more you will learn and experience how they help heal the human body, especially the immune system. Aromatherapy is a highly effective treatment for a depleted or suppressed immune system because we can employ essential oils that have been proven to boost the immune system.
Essential Oils that are **IMMUNE BOOSTERS** - Tea Tree, Lavender, Geranium, Rosemary
Using essential oils to treat a depleted immune system can be a very positive treatment – especially when used regularly.
Research has shown that essential oils work as natural immune boosters in three different modes of action:
1) They work directly against the invading bacteria and viruses due to their powerful antibacterial and antiviral actions.
2) Certain essential oils can influence the stimulation and production of phagocytes, T- cells and B- cells which are so vital to your body’s defences.
3) Other essential oils can give an uplifting boost to the emotional system, which helps break the downward spiral caused by immunodeficiency. This effect is quite unique to aromatherapy - helping to break the circle of illness that causes.. and is caused by.. depression.
Regular use of the correct essential oils – particularly in aromatherapy massage – will have a powerful effect on the limbic system, which in turn has an uplifting and natural healing effect on the mind, body and spirit.
Mari's Gold VITALITY Blend was created in March 1999.. and has been a popular blend over the years. It is a revitalizing & immune-boosting formula.. with essential oils of lavender, tea tree, rosemary, geranium & lemon - in calendula oil (massage/bath oil), bath salts, mist, and essential oil concentrate for mist refill, diffuser or bath. Please see these products in Mari's Gold on-line store catalogue.
Essential Oils - Home & Office Use March 11, 2013 07:15
Use of essential oils will help clean and clear your environment of unwanted bacteria and viruses. Lavender, rosemary, tea tree, eucalyptus, lemon & grapefruit are just a few bacteria-busting essential oils you may want to add to water to diffuse in boiling water or vaporizer/humidifier. Add any combination of these to water and spray into air in form of mist. Try adding some drops to furnace or vacuum filter to purify stale air. A few drops of essential oil added to dust cloth will freshen & revitalize air quality & keep germs at bay.
Introduction to Essential Oils January 23, 2013 13:31
Essential oils are not really oils, but liquids, extracted from plants, flowers, trees, fruits and herbs. The very "essence" of each plant is extracted, most commonly by steam distillation. A large quantity of plant material is heated by steam and water, then the evaporated oil and steam is passed, cooled & separated through coils. The resulting essential oils are used world-wide in aromatherapy, cosmetic, perfumery, and pharmaceutical preparations, as well as candle and soap making. With increased public awareness, education, and popularity, essential oils are now used widely by individuals at home. Essential oils are powerful in their beneficial uses and properties.. a few drops go a long way! Each essential oil has its own therapeutic use and benefit, and must be diluted in water, or carrier oil, before applying to the skin. The exceptions are lavender & tea tree which can be applied "neat" or directly to the skin. The most common form of absorption is by massage, bath, inhalation or compress. Essential oils are sensitive to heat and light and should be stored in a dark, cool environment. They all enjoy a long shelf-life, and do not expire.. but may lose some of their potency when they come into contact with air and heat.
