Essential Oils are Plant Essences May 28, 2024 17:16

Essential oils are not actually "oils". They do not go rancid like oils (olive, sunflower, grape seed, etc) do. Rather they are liquids... plant essences that have been steam distilled, cooled quickly to create the liquid form... or essence of a plant, whether that be the petals, whole blossoms, wood, bark or root.

They have a good long shelf life... as in many years. They will stay fresh and most potent if stored in a dark place at room tempoerature. Most esential oils are packaged in dark amber glass for this reason. They should not be exposed to air, light or extreme temperatures to keep them at optimum quality.
